Rafael Farina Issas was born in São Paulo, Brazil, in 1990. After receiving his bachelor's degree in Audiovisual Arts at the Fundação Armando Alvares Penteado (FAAP), he completed advanced studies in Script and Film Direction at Escuela Internacional de Cine y Televisión de San Antonio de los Baños, Cuba (EICTV). With experience as a director, cinematographer and assistant director on several projects, in 2015 he has been admitted in first place to attend the Master of Fine Arts in Film Direction of the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia (Italian National Film School), one of the most important and prestigious institutions in the field of experimentation and excellence in the education of professionals for the cinema. His first short film "When The Dogs Bark" was selected to compete at New York, Houston, Dublin, Madrid, Barcelona, Cali, Buenos Aires, Rio de Janeiro and Manaus. It won the Gold Remy at the 48th WorldFest-Houston International Film Festival. Between 2015 and 2018, under the supervision of professors like Gianni Amelio, Marco Risi and Daniele Luchetti, he directed seven short films, among them: "In Silenzio", "I Santi Giorni", "Il Vestito da Sposa", "A Pelo d'Acqua" and the documentary "Il Salto", still unpublished, produced by Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia and CSC Production. Since 2014, he is one of the heads of A Fúria Filmes, responsible for the production of several award-winning short films at prestigious international festivals such as Palm Spring International ShortFest, Oberhausen International Film Festival, International Festival of Santa Maria da Feira, Cine PE and KINOFORUM Festival of Short Films of São Paulo.
