Hila Shai was born in Israel to a Israeli mom and an Argentine dad. She grew up speaking both Hebrew and Spanish. When she turned 5 years old her family relocated to Chile and lived there for 4 years. Hila was sent to an international school and started learning English at the age of 6. The love of the stage was there from the beginning, performing in ballet recitals, rhythmic gymnastics and acrobatics till the age of 16. She served 3 years in the military as a Information security officer in the Israeli air-force, training in Krav Maga and self-defense. After backpacking in south America for 10 months she moved to Tel Aviv and joined a preparatory workshop for SELA, the Performing Arts Studio. She then enrolled in "Ha'Guf Theater" (Theater of the body) which is a Jaques Le'coq Physical Theater school where she studied commedia dell'art, improvisation, tragedy, acro-balance and all crew duties such as costumes, lights, writing and directing. When she graduated Ha'guf Theater she decided to better her skills in "film-acting" workshops at one of the best acting studios in Israel - Nissan Nativ. She moved to Los Angeles early 2012 and have been studying at Ivana Chubbucks studio since. She worked on a couple dozen short and student films, countless street performances, commercials/infomercials, reality TV and more. Hila is striving to to land a dramatic role in a feature film and she wont stop till she's satisfied.
