While Robert Hobbs is currently an English teacher in Japan (as of 2012), he has always had a passion for the performing arts. A graduate of Magna Vista High School in 1999, he was in the fall play competition team from 1995 to 1998. During his time on the team, he performed in plays such as "The Tower", "The Hunchback of Notre Dame", "How to Eat Like a Child", and "Shining Princess of the Slender Bamboo" at local and regional drama competitions. He also was in the musicals "Anything Goes" in 1996, "Crazy for You" in 1997, and "Me and My Girl" in 1998. He was a member of the PHCC players from 1999 to 2001, appearing in "Faith County" and "A Greater Tuna Christmas". He also worked behind the scenes for "Steel Magnolias" in 2000, "Music of the Night" in 2001, and for the Miss Martinsville/Henry County Pageant in 2001. In the summer of 2001, Robert was a member of the Blue Ridge Dinner Theater, both as performer and behind the scenes. While attending Radford University in 2002, he performed in "The Taming of the Shrew" From 2002 to 2003, he was also a member of "ROC-TV" and worked as an actor, producer, director, and editor. In 2003, Robert performed in the ROC-TV movie, "Ring of the Dead". He has a Master of Arts in Professional Counseling from Liberty University and worked in for the Virginia Department of Corrections in psychology before his current job in Japan. He is also working on a Master of Science in Education in TESOL from Shenandoah University.
