Clifford started acting at the age of 16 in his local theatre (the Kenneth More, Ilford) and quickly established himself as a versatile character actor. He has appeared in all genre of production from classics such as Marlowe's Edward II, through to pantomimes, comedies, farces and the odd musical. One of his most acclaimed roles was the patriarchal Big Daddy in Tennessee William's Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, for the award winning Big Splash Theatre Company. Among his other stage appearances are playing Sir Winston Churchill (twice - Farewell Winston and The Public Interest) and as John Tarleton in George Bernard Shaw's Misalliance. As a stand-up comic and magician on the cabaret and club circuit, Clifford supported some legends in the British theatre and cabaret circuit including, Danny la Rue, Bert Weedon and George Melly. He is an accomplished Pantomime Dame and has even appeared as Dame at the London Palladium in a charity pantomime for McMillan Nurses which also starred Sinitta. Clifford is one of the UK's leading Santa Claus impersonators and has appeared on TV, radio, stage and at corporate and private events as the Big Man! One of his favourite appearances was on his sleigh, complete with six real reindeer, on the runway at Manchester International Airport! And he was a regular on ITV's Text Santa and several shopping channels during the festive period. His other credits include commercials for Specsavers, Ford, The Disney Store, Netto, Royal Mail, Transferwise, Dr Vegas, Nickelodeon, Meny (Norwegian Supermarket), Capital One Credit Cards, The Samaritans and Cadbury's Crème Eggs. TV appearances include: CBBC's Got What it Takes, The Ruby Wax Show, Ready, Steady Cook (Christmas Special), Keith Lemon's Through the Keyhole and Dave's One Night Stand with Al Murray. In the corporate world he has appearances for Nickelodeon, Microsoft, and Facebook. He spent two years as Sir Topham Hatt (the Fat Controller) for Hit Entertainment's Thomas and Friends and two years as Henry VIII at the renowned Medieval Banquet in London. Clifford is also in demand as a voice over for commercials and corporate films and is kept busy writing pantomimes, children's shows and other film scripts. Outside of acting he is a keen historian, with an interest in Victorian London and the RMS Titanic, and regularly leads walking tours of London.
