Tomas Halasz

Tomas Halasz is a photojournalist specializing on long-term cooperation with for non profit organizations for documentary work. Started to take pictures as early as he was 13 years old. He choose to study photography in high-school emphasis to photojournalism. First photographer assignment he got right after finishing school for a local daily in Slovakia. Afterwards he moved to United Kingdom where he spent few years working with photography and finally returned to Slovakia starting for several media outlets, including the Czech press Agency, CTK, the daily Pravda and the News Agency of the Slovak Republic, TASR. He has been a freelance photographer since 2010. He is a member of the creative studio Magritte, visual journalism association Public Section Nine Production ( PS9 ), a co-founder as well as a chairman of the Association of visual journalists of Slovakia. He is for years being published by major Slovak publications. His photos appeared in the American agency AP and the Canadian daily L'actualities. He has received the international Czech Press Photo Award, Slovak Press Photo and he has been awarded by the Literary Fund for his work. He is now based in Bratislava, Slovakia. And he is closely working with Jan Husar under the PS9 - Public Section Nine Production stories which are associated with several international and global media such as New York Times, National Geographic and NatGeo Wild.
