Leah N.H. Philpott is a Canadian actress born in St. John's, Newfoundland to Newfoundland Hockey Hall of Famer Ed Philpott and Canada Post worker Gloria Philpott. Although her hometown is Gander, Newfoundland, Philpott frequently moved around various parts of Canada growing up due to her father's post-hockey career as an RCMP officer. After earning her Bachelor of Arts in Theatre at York University in Toronto, ON, she worked as a theatre actress for several years. In 2010, Canadian comedy icons Kids In the Hall announced they'd be reuniting for Kids in the Hall: Death Comes to Town (2010) for CBC. Philpott was unable to make the auditions, so she drove 4 hours to slip her headshot and resume in casting director Stephanie Gorin's home mailbox. Philpott was soon hired as a stand-in for the duration of the series. A few days into the shoot, series star and co-creator Bruce McCulloch was so impressed by her work ethic and personality that he special requested her to audition for some new roles. She was subsequently cast and made her television debut in the show as Big City's Assistant D.A., who would appear in half the episodes of the series in scenes alongside all five of the show's stars. Since then, Philpott has worked steadily in front of the camera, including supporting roles in scenes alongside Kim Coates in Sony's A Dark Truth (2012) and Beth Grant and Tara Buck in MarVista's Great Plains (2016), as well as numerous award winning short films including Morning Zombies (2012), Caputo (2017), Life, Upgraded (2019), and In Sickness & In Health (2019), the latter of which she was nominated for "Best Supporting Actress" at the Sunny Side Up Film Festival. In 2019, she was cast in the Lionsgate family-fantasy-adventure film Adventures of Rufus: The Fantastic Pet (2020) as the movie's villain, the evil sorceress Lilith. The movie was released on May 26, 2020. Philpott appears in the drama A Thousand Little Cuts and stars as Rioghain in the mythological horror drama Afterwalker from director Dan Glaser, respectively due in late 2020 and early 2021.
