Dr. Jacquelyn Ford Morie has been at the forefront of immersive world technology since 1990, working on affective and meaningful implementations of virtual environments. She received her PhD in this topic from the University of East London's SmartLab in 2008. She has developed multi-sensory techniques for virtual reality (VR) that can predictably elicit emotional responses from participants within simulated environments, for example inventing a scent collar that can be used to deliver scents to a participant in a VR scenario. She is also active in online 3D virtual worlds and has been bringing her VR techniques to these more social worlds for Mindfulness and NASA astronauts. Her other research interests include topics such as space, identity and play in virtual worlds, and she has presented extensively on these topics at conferences worldwide. She has appeared in 2 films: The Mindfulness Movie (2013) and Dsknectd (2013) as herself.
