Martin Lopez's acting career is a byproduct of his life long obsession with literature. Martin fell in love with reading at an early age, and was determined to become a writer (a dream he would later realize). It was his interest in both primary historical texts as well as works of fiction that led him to study at the University of Notre Dame. He pursued two full majors, the first in Medieval Studies with a focus in chivalric romance literature, the second in English with a focus in Arthurian legend. Martin became interested in theater while studying abroad in England. He credits his Shakespeare professor from Cambridge, as well as his internship at The Globe theater with kindling his passion for acting. He has stated it was humbling being able to study theater at The Globe, not to mention the opportunity to perform a monologue on that most respected of all stages. In 2004 Martin pursued a career as a Knight at Medieval Times in Baltimore. For three years, he fought on horseback to the cheers of the crowd, and states it was one of the most enjoyable periods of his life. In 2007 he left Medieval Times and focused on his writing, signing a contract to publish his first novel in 2012. The novel is titled "A Confession", and a release date has yet to be scheduled. Ironically, it was the sudden success of his career in film that has delayed the release of his book. In 2013 Martin attended his first casting call for film as opposed to theater, and was asked to play the role of Zack in the movie "You're Dead". From there things moved quickly, and in the following year he was cast as the lead in several new series. Perhaps it is this success that has led Martin to state he intends to continue pursuing film as opposed to returning to the stage. Martin Lopez has a wealth of experience and skills to draw on for his roles. His athletic prowess is evident from a brief career as a semi-pro soccer player, as well as boxing and fencing while in college. His years and training at medieval times make him an ideal choice for any projects that require stage combat or the ability to ride horses, and he will be the first to admit he enjoys roles that require stunt work. In regards to his theater, he has not only studied Shakespeare at the highest levels, but teaches courses on the subject in between projects. For projects seeking a more theatrical tone or with an emphasis on monologues, he is not only adept but equally comfortable playing the hero or the villain.
