David Arturo Cruz Baquero

David Cruz is a film director, cinematographer and photographer born in Bogotá, Colombia. Traveling and living in different countries around the world, like England, United States, Cuba, Sweden, Switzerland, Poland, Hungary, Estonia and Germany, has opened his eyes and mind in a unimaginable way, letting him experience variety of cultures and ways of thinking enriching his own point of view about life and have had a great influence as a filmmaker and photographer. After and in between travels, Cruz attended the International Film and Television School [EICTV] in Cuba, National Film School [ENACC] in Colombia and has a major in Communication Design in the University of Los Andes in Colombia. His career began in Colombian film and television productions in the mid 2000s, working for RCN Televisión as an Assistant Director and Executive Producer's Assistant in TV Commercials and Music Videos. His first international production was the 2013 film Gallows Hill (2013), a co-produced horror film between USA, Spain and Colombia, directed by Victor Garcia, and starring Sophia Myles, Peter Facinelli and Nathalia Ramos. Later, he decided to open Diip Studio, an audiovisual production company, with his partner and friend Oscar Otero and start directing short films and music videos. In 2013, Cruz wrote and directed his first short film for Diip Studio, called El Sueño DE Dante, -"Dante's Dream"-, an animation project that encourages children to change the way of thinking and seeing "women's tasks" in the Latin American Society. El Sueño DE Dante was Officially Selected, Nominated for "Best Short Film", and won Best Art Direction in various film festivals around Latin America. Also was broadcast in Sundance Channel, DIRECTV and INCAA TV. He has been part of other productions as Ebru (2015), directed by Jennifer Merchant, Holly's Girl (2016), directed by Paulina Lagudi, Stay (2016), directed by Bijan Masjedizadeh, which have been officially selected around Europe and North America. Now he is part of The Wanted Mind, another audiovisual production company, based in Los Angeles, California. On the side, he is the Official Photographer and Social Media Content Creator at Estrella TV, a well-known Latino TV Channel, in one of the most recognized shows "Noches con Platanito".
