Joanne Chianello

Joanne Chianello was born and raised in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. She spent most of her adult life in Ottawa, which she now considered her true home. She is the city affairs columnist for the newspaper, Ottawa Citizen, her latest beat in a twenty year career that began at The Finanical Post. She began her career there in 1992 working as a reporter for three years. Since arriving at the Ottawa Citizen in November 1995, she's covered everything from technology and telecommunications for which she was named the Anderson Consulting Business Writer of the Year - to food and federal politics. She has been covering City Hall since 2010. Chianello is a a frequent commentator on television and radio, and is a regular member of CBC Morning's City Hall panel each Thursday. Her column appears on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
