Timothy S. Jacobson, an Emmy-winning documentary filmmaker, grew up in rural Wisconsin, USA. He graduated from Beloit College in Beloit, Wisconsin with a Bachelor of Arts. After college, he attended Marquette University Law School in Milwaukee, Wis., earning a J.D. He worked in the private practice of law for 14 years. During that time, he co-founded the dot-com business prairielaw.com--a consumer law resource--which was later sold to international legal publisher Martindale-Hubbell. Jacobson went on to become president of the law firm O'Flaherty Heim Egan, Ltd. He switched from running a law firm to leading a nonprofit land trust, Mississippi Valley Conservancy, in 2006. During the seven years he worked as executive director of the conservancy, the organization earned recognition as "Land Trust of the Year" for the State of Wisconsin, and it achieved national land trust accreditation. At the conservancy, Jacobson began producing a series of short nature documentaries "MVC Explores." Also, he took time off in 2007 to travel to the Middle East where he filmed and produced a short documentary entitled "Voices in the Holy Land: 40 Years of MIlitary Occupation." He wrote a series of articles, along with his three travel companions, for La Crosse Magazine about the peace and justice issues he witnessed firsthand in Israel and the West Bank of Palestine. In 2011, Jacobson reached a deal on behalf of MVC with Untamed Science for the creation of a documentary film "Mysteries of the Driftless," which was released on September 16, 2013, and later broadcast on Wisconsin Public Television. The film has been an official selection in numerous film festivals in multiple states. Jacobson's work as Executive Producer of that film earned an Emmy Award from Chicago/Midwest NATAS for "Outstanding Achievement in Documentary Programs - Topical" on November 1, 2014. In January 2012, Jacobson published his first novel, "The Kurchatov Penetration." In May of that year, the thriller briefly skyrocketed to #3 on the "Amazon Best Sellers in Thrillers - Top 100" list. In late 2012, Jacobson appeared in a substantial role as himself in the six-hour documentary "Amsterdam Stories USA," which features him leading a tour through nature in the Upper Mississippi River Valley and piloting an airplane.
