Steffi Carter is an American ballet dancer who loves books. After attending The University of Chicago to adore the city and study Political Science, she returned to her native San Diego, California to begin her professional ballet career. During school, she was asked to choreograph a tango for the University Theater's production of "Romeo and Juliet". Before she knew it, she was asked to play the titular role. Though she had previously spent thirteen years onstage, she had never before spoken on stage. The production was challenging in the best of ways and truly pushed her limits and interests in her craft. Her debut performance was followed by more theater exploration, her university career culminating in her young Beowulf in The Classical Entertainment Society's "Beowulf". She has also modeled, done hair and make-up, and choreographed for various ensembles in the greater Chicago and San Diego area. This will be her second season with the San Diego Ballet. She teaches classical and contemporary ballet, consumes exorbitant amounts of coffee, and loves imparting what she's figured out about performance.
