Reynaldo Rueda Rivera "El Profe Rueda", was born on April 16, 1957, in Cali, Valle del Cauca. Married to Genith Ruano, they have two daughters and one son. In Colombia, Rueda started coaching Independiente Medellín, Cortulúa and Deportivo Cali. In 2001, in the Toulon Tournament in France, Rueda made it to the final qualifying rounds with the Colombian U-21 team and finished in 2nd place. In 2004, he was appointed coach of the Colombian National Soccer Team to fulfill the task of qualifying them to the 2006 World Cup, but he was unable to achieve this goal and two years later he left the team. In 2008, Rueda was hired to coach of the Honduran team and managed to take them to the 2010 World Cup and decided to become a Honduran citizen. Criticized for his tactics he left the team 3 years later. From the end of 2010 until 2015 he coached the Ecuadorian national team, but then he decided to return to Colombia to work with Atletico Nacional. In 2016, Atlético Nacional was to play the final match of Copa Sudamericana against the Chapecoense, Brazilian team that tragically perished in a fatal airplane accident. Reynaldo Rueda, the owners of Atlético Nacional, and the players decided to grant the title to the Chapecoense. In 2017, Rueda left Colombia and was hired as coach of the Flamengo Brazilian team. He took the team to the final of the Brazil Cup and the South American Cup in the same year. Rueda then decided to take over the Chilean national team and coached them in the 2019 Copa América with poor performance. In January 2021, returned to coach the Colombian national team.
