Álvar Carretero de la Fuente

Alvar Carretero is a film publicist and manager based in Los Angeles. In September 2014 he was hired at Joshua Jason Public Relations/JJPR, one of the most prestigious independent PR firms in Hollywood where he successfully helped coordinate and execute many Award Season Campaigns for Foreign Language Entries, Animation, Documentaries, Short Films, and studio movies for companies such as Focus Features, Warner Bros., Apple, GKIDS, Searchlight, TWC and Disney. He currently manages the client/voter relations alongside with outreach strategies. He is also tasked with Film Festivals and special projects at the firm with focus towards Europe, Latin American projects and his home country, Spain. Since his arrival at the agency, the company has added 4 Oscars and 32 Oscar Nominations for its impressive roster of international clients. He was in charge of the publicity of the South East European Film Festival in Los Angeles in 2016. He was appointed Director of Awards and Global PR in 2019. Currently he is involved with different production projects in Europe and the US at varying stages of development. Mr Carretero spearheaded the festival publicity campaign for the documentary Looking at the Stars (Directed by Alexandre Peralta) as well as being part of the producing team for the film. In 2013 he moved to Los Angeles to study Business and Management in Entertainment and Producing at UCLA. He worked for EGEDA US at the office to the Executive Director, supporting the first edition of the Premios Platino (Platino Awards) in Panama and as Marketing Outreach Director for the Guadalajara International Film Festival in LA. He worked as the Business Developer for the Russian production company ArtVideo Studio in Madrid in 2012 and also for the award-winning Spanish producer Manuel Cristobal, (Wrinkles, El lince perdido, Encierro) as his assistant, attending to the Malaga Film Festival (Festival de Cine Español de Malaga) in 2012. Voting Member of the Spanish Film Academy (Academia de las artes y las ciencias cinematográficas de España) and ASIFA-Hollywood (Annie Awards). Mr. Carretero has been part of the jury of the 37th Miami Film Festival "Marimbas Award" and Madrid en Corto 2020 & 2021 In 2019 he founded ACF Talent to serve international writers and directors to develop their career in the US and the Spanish market. BA in Film, TV & Radio with a Minor in Audiovisual Marketing from the University of Navarre (Spain)
