Oklahoma native Joe Ballew was an AM radio disc jockey at age 14, and a frequent actor in high school and the Red Carpet Community Theatre in his hometown of Elk City. He has recently booked roles in The Takeover (2019) and Overcomer (2019). He was born Joe Barry Ballew on September 28, 1964, in Elk City, Oklahoma. His father, Donald Alex Ballew, was a dentist, author, and served a term as an Elk City mayor. His mother, Joan Devere (Linville), was a housewife. His parents were married for 65 years until his father's death in 2018. His love of acting began at an early age after seeing his mom perform in several plays during his youth. From the age of 7, Ballew began acting in summer drama programs in his hometown, making his debut as The Scarecrow in "The Wizard of Oz." Both parents encouraged him in his acting pursuits. Having acted through high school and in various community theatre productions in his adult life, Ballew says his biggest roles have been those in real-life. "Being a father, husband, grandfather and high school teacher have all been most rewarding, and none of those have a script."
