David Bowles

David Bowles is a Mexican-American author and screenwriter from deep South Texas. Recipient of awards from the American Library Association, Texas Institute of Letters and Texas Associated Press, he has written more than a dozen titles, including the Pura Belpré Honor Winning "The Smoking Mirror." David's collection of legends from deep South Texas, "Border Lore" was optioned in 2017 by Campanario Entertainment and Mucho Mas Media for development into a potential TV series or feature film. He is presently co-authoring a book for Dutton Penguin with best-selling author Adam Gidwitz, and his graphic novel Clockwork Curandera, illustrated by Pura Belpré Winner Raúl González, will be published in 2019. In April of 2017, Bowles was inducted into the Texas Institute of Letters.
