Louis Chan is a London based writer and director. In 2019, Louis completed the drama short film Stationary, a tense drama starring rising stars Rebekah Murrell ('In My Skin', 'Pirates'), Aaron Thomas Ward ('Call the Midwife', 'Eastenders'), with Xavien Russell ('Topboy', 'Small Axe') rounding off the cast. To date, Stationary screened at the BFI and BAFTA qualifying festivals; winning the Audience Choice Prize at EFN, Best Film at the Cardiff International Film Festival and Performance Awards as well as Best Acting awards for Ward and Murrell at Unrestricted View Film Festival 2020. Stationary premiered online with Fully Focused Productions and to date, has amassed just under 300 000 views. In 2020, Louis completed his first credit for the BBC, working on comedy sketches in partnership with the BBC Writer's Room and BBC Three online. Some of Louis' most recent short film credits include 'Roadman Aupair', starring comedians Andrew Nolan ('Mind Spew'), Rosie Holt ('The Russell Howard Hour') and internet comedy creator Ren DMC; 'High's' starring Michael Phong Le ('My Neighbour Totoro', 'Normal People') and 'Sticks of Fury', starring Demmy Ladipo ('Lady Parts', 'The Last Tree', 'The Barbershop Chronicles'), Keiyon Cook ('Top Boy') and newcomer Samuel Anoon ('What Happened to Karen?'). Sticks of Fury premiered at the 66th London Film Festival. Louis is in development for a family drama feature with producer Chi Thai (Last Conker, BFI Vision Award 2020), a black comedy Chinese language TV series set in the UK (Fully Focused / BBC) and 'Sticks of Fury' as part of original anthology comedy series. Louis was a member of the professional development programme BAFTA CREW from 2017-2022. Louis is of British, Malaysian Chinese and Jamaican heritage, and fluent in French.
