Tom Goodall is an Australian film director and producer, based in Los Angeles and Adelaide, Australia, with the mission of creating Australian content that is internationally and commercially viable. After failed careers in crocodile-wrestling and kangaroo-riding, Goodall decided there were better ways to entertain mass audiences. So he turned to making movies, and learned what real work was. Goodall began his undergraduate training in film production in Australia at Flinders University where he directed, produced, wrote two short films (Plain Sight, The Distance) and a feature film (The Follower) that then toured the festival circuit. During this period he also directed and produced two comedy stage shows (The Brothers Grimm Spectaculathon, Romantic Fools). He then moved to Los Angeles to further hone his craft, receiving a Masters at USC School Of Cinematic Arts, and began operating in Los Angeles as well as Australia. Goodall's feature film, The Follower, which was released online, has been viewed over 120,000 times. He's been awarded grants from Australia's Helpmann Academy, which he's used to create another short film about a topic close to his heart - the preservation of Indigenous Australian culture - titled True Blue. Growing up with a Native Title lawyer for a father, Goodall was always told stories of the Aboriginal Dreamtime, the significance of Sacred Sites, and Australia's ancient culture. He's passionate about stories of social justice in Australia, often around Indigenous Australian culture or the current social climate. His achievements have been widely published, including on BroadwayWorld.com and in FilmInk magazine (Australia's biggest film publication). In between directing/writing/producing projects, Goodall works as a producer, most recently producing a Norwegian music video in Los Angeles for Universal starring Danny Trejo that was the biggest Norwegian music video ever made. Goodall works in both Australia and Los Angeles, spreading his career across both industries, aiming to help bridge the two in the future. When not making/writing/watching movies, Goodall spends the other 2% of his time playing with his dog Zoe, seeing musicals, buying way too much merchandise from musicals but you can't prove that, following politics, ignoring sport, exercising less than he should but he'll get better next week, and realistically he's probably thinking about movies anyway.
