Throughout his life, he has performed in a variety of plays. When he was 5, he began his acting instruction through the brilliant Helen O'Grady Drama Academy, performing in the play of The Hungry Caterpillar. From there, he was involved in a few plays in Ditton primary school. After he moved to Scotland, he took part in a drama group in Edzell that was based around creating their own characters and scenes. From there, it took a while to find another drama group until a year ago, when he auditioned for the play Oliver, with Laurencekirk drama group. he gained the part of Noah which involved singing, dancing and performance. This helped him test my skills on stage. For the whole of Oliver, he was nervous, but he was enjoying being back on the stage. It was fun, and felt natural. After Oliver was finished, he signed up for a role in Nunsense, a play based around Nuns who are trying to raise money to bury four of their sisters. He played a brother in a quite comical role which required rather a bit of audience interaction, it was another step into the unknown for him. Although he was not playing a lead role, he was still singing and dancing on stage, and given freedom to express emotions and movement when something happened. In all honesty, when it was coming close to production week, he was still nervous about being on stage. It was his Dad who finally helped him realize that he should not care what anybody thought of him. He was playing a character, who acts the way they do. Still slightly unsure, He went into Nunsense with the same energy as He did with Oliver, and he had a blast. On the stage, during the first night, he felt more relaxed and soon stopped worrying about what he looked like. The group he was with changed its name from LAMS to Spotlight and went on to perform Bad Girls at the Aberdeen Arts Centre. Although he was only in the chorus for this musical, he helped out behind the scenes, taking on set pieces. Afterwards, he was invited to take part in Fame at the last minute, taking on the role of Goody and chorus. The Spotlight group has now moved onto 9 to 5, where Jonathon has taken on the role of Josh, Violets son. He is also involved in the chorus singing. During his time on the Technical Theatre Class, he made many friends. Through gaining trust in himself, and his abilities, he loosened up, and started to speak out. He also gained enough confidence to act in front of the rest of the group, in a project set by one of their lecturers, Rachel. The course itself revolves around all aspects of the Theatre Technical side, from lighting and sound, to Stage Management, to creating the set and props themselves. They have all been given the opportunity to take part in shows, and to expand their skills by using them is live shows. He was involved in several projects, including lighting a fashion show, and assisting with the set for Once A Catholic at the Space. In 2015, he started an NC Acting and Performance course, in which he was taught about movement, the use of vocals, how to learn and improve monologues, among other techniques. The course was a helpful tool but has been put on hold as he wishes to pursue more active drama work. Since 2012, he has been involved in voice work for animations on Youtube, while creating some of his own work. His latest work includes creating a new web-series with his friend and voicing three different characters in an online animation
