Xavier Carnegie has many credits in the Washington DC area as an actor, songwriter, singer, playwright, director, dancer, and speaker. Born in Washington DC, Carnegie grew up in the nation's capital and in New Orleans, Louisiana, where he studied music and theatre. Most of his work has been in live performance, including Shakespeare, classics, modern, improvisational, and musical theatre in New Orleans and Washington. He has done voice work for National Geographic, and musical performances at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. He is particularly known for his work at the Smithsonian Institution, where he is the Creative Director at the National Museum of American History in Washington. In this capacity he has written and directed over a dozen interactive plays inspired by history, and won several awards. He has also appeared in several productions for the Smithsonian's Discovery Theater, and at the Museum of American History, both on stage, and as a voice actor for the museum's online promotionals, educational videos, and outdoor announcement system. His work at the Smithsonian, as an MC and host, and as a speaker at various functions, led him to be cast as the host of Seriously Amazing Objects on the Smithsonian Channel. He also hosted the Anthem for America live concert and web-cast during the Museum's "Raise it Up" celebration of the 200th anniversary of the Star-Spangled Banner.
