He then went on to be known as the Energy Man for most of the parts he played in the theatre from Fringe, West end and Royal National Theatre. To name but a few parts played, Siswe Banzi is Dead as the lead this was a South African play about apartheid. This was an unbelievable experience and encounter leading to him meeting the director and the writer Athol Fugard, and receiving mind blowing reviews which lead to being nominated as Fringe Actor of the year. Another great experience was in the play A Temporary Rupture pt 1 & pt 2 a national tour in the theatre Too Can Play by the writer and director Trevor Row of the film the Harder They Come, this lead on to me becoming the understudy to play Mohammed Ali in the award winning play The Greatest at the Mermaid Theatre London. As I said before to name a few I arrived as King to play Martin Luther King in the mind blowing black hero's in the hall of fame a musical drama about black achievers which took England by storm and some parts of the world, we toured with them for 5-7 years, and one of the high lights were having Stevie Wonder coming on stage to greet the cast. I was also won the black actor of the year award for playing the said role. Must not forget the parts played in TV and Films starring in the film Touch & Die with Martin Sheen. Basil also went on to become the Lilt man for a number of years. After years of treading the boards as the say in the business Basil started a training company in education by the name of High Star Arts and Production in drama working with young people for a number of years
