K. Premsinh Varma is a natural history film Director, although he has also been credited as a producer, cameraman and scriptwriter. He was pulled into the film industry at a very young age when movies were still made in Black and White. He has the distinction of becoming one of the youngest directors in the country and was even recognized for his efforts at the time by the then Chief Minister of Gujarat.- Besides Direction, he also has immense knowledge on Photography - both still and motion. For few of his movies, he has been credited under Cameraman and Script-writing too. His passion towards India's natural history - its flora and fauna, and his keen desire to protect our wildlife made him churn out several short movies for the masses, educating them about the richness of our natural history and the urgent need to protect them. Most of his films have earned him accolades, including several national and international awards. His last film was released in 1985. Today, K. Premsinh Varma is retired and fighting a lost cause against the Government of India in the courts. Most of his life's work can be found within the movie archives of the Films Division of India, Mumbai.
