Milan Krunic was born in Belgrade on February 9th 1981. His father is a mechanical engineer and mother is a defectologist and a speech therapist, specialized in children hearing disabilities. So, from an early age, Milan was taught how to pronounce the words correctly, with neutral accent. He also learned to read at a fairly young age, and still is an avid reader of comics and books on various subjects. At the age of three his parents took him to see Star Wars episode IV: Return of the Jedi (1983) in a local theater. And this is when the love for the movies started. Milan's grandmother was a great fan of Noir, and used to watch with him classics with Humphrey Bogart, James Cagney, Basil Rathbone and Vincent Price that were shown on a local TV station. Somewhere around eight years of age he wrote his first "novel", based on his favorite cartoon show - Saber Rider and the Star Sheriffs (1987-1988). During elementary school Milan became a passionate collector of movies, and a frequent guest at a local cinema. His VHS collection counted several dozens of famous titles. He was also very interested in how movies were made, but since no one in his family was an artist and did not know anyone from the movie making industry, he had to gather his knowledge from books, articles and encyclopedias. After Highschool Krunic chose to study not the Film Academy but Archeology. He spent two years digging through the dirt before abandoning his childhood dream of becoming an Indiana Jones and turned to journalism. After writing columns and articles for several local papers and web-portals he decided to combine his talent for writing and love of movies. During this time, he also participated in several film-student projects, mostly as a line-producers and "a guy who knows a lot of people". Today, Krunic is best known as a highly appraised but also much-feared movie critic. His harsh and scolding reviews of Serbian movies have gained him a certain notoriety as a writer, but his texts and reviews are always sought-after and a pleasure to read as they are based on facts and always filled with a healthy does of cynical humor. Krunic lives in Belgrade, where he works and writes, but he usually resides in a local Cineplexx movie theater that is just a couple of streets from his apartment.
