Charlene Scott was born in Dunoon, Scotland and raised in Corpus Christi, Texas. She went to Flour Bluff High School, where she competed in speech and debate. Charlene attended Baylor University in Waco, Texas, where she received her Bachelors and Masters degrees in Communication Studies. After graduation, she lived in Virginia for a year before moving to Japan. There, she worked as an international buyer and English teacher before moving to Germany. While in Germany, she continued teaching English and also started teaching communication classes at a university. One day, she saw an audition poster for a production of Steel Magnolias. While she had done a few plays and theater competitions on and off growing up, she had never fully pursued acting but decided to audition because Steel Magnolias was one of her favorite movies. Although she read for Shelby, she was cast as M'Lynn, and that's when her love affair with acting began. After playing Vera in Agatha Christie's And Then There Were None, Charlene had her directorial debut with Absurd Person Singular, which garnered nominations for Best Directorial Debut and Best Comedy in the prestigious European Tournament of Plays. She was nominated again the following year for Best Director and Best Comedy with her direction of The Foreigner. Charlene returned to acting with her portrayal of Izzy in Rabbit Hole, for which she won Best Supporting Actress in a Drama in the 2010 European Tournament of Plays. She was nominated again in 2011 for Best Supporting Actress in a Drama as Lee in Marvin's Room. It was during her time in Germany that Charlene also started doing stand-up comedy, which she found she also thoroughly enjoyed. After living for five years in Germany, Charlene moved to Las Vegas and began teaching there. Quite accidentally, she auditioned for a local casino commercial and was cast as a principal, which led to the beginning of her commercial, film and television acting. Since then, Charlene has continued to work on various acting projects in addition to teaching public speaking. When time and opportunity allow, she also enjoys improv acting and continues to write and work on her stand-up comedy.
