Augusto Amorim is a Brazilian director, screenwriter, producer, journalist, blogger, lawyer and researcher. He produced and directed documentaries about justice, citizenship and public safety. He edited a blog in the Brazilian internet portal Universo Online (UOL) about film, audiovisual media and contemporary culture (2007-2017). He's author of the book "Brazilian Cinema and Spectators" (2011) which discusses the meaning that audiences attribute to Brazilian films. He worked as a reporter, editor and copydesk in the Brazilian newspapers "Jornal do Commercio" (1988-1992) and "Diario de Pernambuco" (1993-1995). He has a PhD in Sociology (Universidade Federal de Pernambuco/UFPE) and a Master in Communication and Culture (Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro/UFRJ). He graduated with a bachelor's degree in Journalism (Universidade Federal de Pernambuco/UFPE) and Law (Universidade Católica de Pernambuco). His academic career has the Brazilian cinema as object of study in various approaches (sociological, media expression and subject of judicial-legal interest). Since 1993 he conducts research, studies and activities of the transdisciplinary nature in the Fundação Joaquim Nabuco (Recife, Pernambuco, Brazil) in Sociology, Communication and Law. He has experience as a professor of graduate studies in Communication and Mass Media (2002-2009).
