Bruce Checefsky is an award-winning photographer and filmmaker, and published writer. He has directed numerous films by reimagining and making abstract and avant-garde Eastern European shorts from the 1920s to the 1940s that were either lost or destroyed in the Second World War or conceived/scripted but never filmed. His films have been screened in museums and film festivals worldwide, including at the International Film Festival Rotterdam, Toronto International Films Festival, MoMA, National Gallery of Art, Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, The Elizabeth Foundation for the Arts, Anthology Film, Archives, and Film-Makers Filmmakers Co-operative to the Tate Modern, International Film Festival Rotterdam, Toronto International Films Festival, and others.
