Pat Mason, Jr. was born and raised in Shreveport, Louisiana. His parents were Patrick Mason, Sr. (Petroleum Geologist) and Maurine (Davis) Mason (Executive Secretary). Pat attended Captain Shreve High School and Southeastern Louisiana University (Hammond, La). He became a commercial pilot in 1977 and eventually retired after 25 years with American Airlines. All through his life he played in Rock, Cajun, and Country bands. He is an accomplished songwriter, vocalist, and musician who plays guitars, mandolin, Bass, keyboards, Blues Harmonica, and Cajun/Zydeco accordions. He formed the Shreveport-based 'Bayou Boogie' band after his retirement. He was recruited by his child-hood friend, Tom Logan, to write a song for the movie 'Campin' Buddies' which Logan was the writer and director. Pat's band performed the song in the movie which garnered the attention of Buddy Kalb, manager with Ray Stevens Music. The result was a songwriting contract with Ray Stevens Music being negotiated with Pat and his co-writer Pat Johnson. The duo formed 'Mason & Johnson Songwriters' and have been busy writing and recording their original material. Mason continues to work his 'Bayou Boogie' band while forming a back-up band to showcase his solo performance. His wife is Paula Ann (Critelli) Mason (Niagara Falls, NY) who is a Realtor in Corona del Mar, CA. The couple divide their time between their home in Shreveport and Corona del Mar. They have two children (Pat III and Melissa (Mason) Elder). The entire Mason family are avid sportsmen/women. Pat's hobbies include fishing, hunting, riding motorcycles, and reading.
