David Anthony Lewis was born and raised by a single mother in Orange County, attending Sonora High School in La Habra. After a spring and summer playing for the Fullerton College basketball team, it was clear David had a bright future--talking about the game rather than playing it. He studied broadcasting and began his radio career at KGGI in San Bernardino. After a stint at San Diego's KKLQ (Q106), David moved to Northern California with stops at KWSS, KSOL, KSFM and KHQT as Top 40 DJ. With a passion for sports, he started the Santa Clara Radio Network and became a play-by-play announcer, working the Broncos last trip to the NCAA Tournament in '95--also behind the mic for the Cal women's team's first trip to the Final Four in 2013. For 21 years, David was the evening sports anchor on KCBS (San Francisco) covering the NBA Finals, Stanley Cup Final, NFL playoffs and the NCAA men's basketball tournament. He now works for NBC News Radio as a national update anchor along with reports for New York, Boston, Washington DC, Georgia, Alabama and Seattle. As a DJ at KSOL, one of David's morning show guest was Oakland filmmaker Mario Bobino. The two developed a rapport with Bobino giving David a shot as a fireman in Consequences. That triggered a passion for film, with roles in 42 Cars, The Female Law Firm, Oakland's Squad, Defiance, Family First and The Inner City. In 2017, director Shawn Flanagan saw David's performance in The Female Firm and offered him a co-starring role in Jimmy Kendrick--portraying a corrupt bar owner who embezzles retirement money from senior citizens.
