Alex Kahuam was born in Mexico City. He is the 3rd generation of a Lebanese family established in Mexico. Kahuam moved to Los Angeles in 2012 to improve his filmmaking skills and he's been residing there ever since. Alex Kahuam wrote and directed his first film "Escondida" in 2012. He also wrote and directed other films such as: "So, you want to be a gangster?" in 2014 which was distributed in the US, Canada and many places in Europe in 2018; and the short film "LAX" in 2017 which was screened at the DGA. The LAX feature film adaptation is currently in development. In 2018, he wrote and directed a psychological horror film called "FORGIVENESS", which on January 2019 the film got accepted at The Guadalajara International Film Festival (FICG) #34 in the "Work In Progress" category of Guadalajara Construye 13th Edition, where it was screened in competition against 7 other films. "FORGIVENESS" has been selected at the prestigious London FRIGHTFEST for its 22nd edition. The festival will run from the 26th to the 30th of August. In late 2019 he wrote and directed RED LIGHT, a proof of concept starring horror icons Ted Raimi ("Ash vs. Evil Dead," "Deadwax") and Brian Krause ("Charmed," "Cypher"). On August 31st, 2020 "RED LIGHT" got selected at the prestigious SITGES film festival #53 in the main competition "Official Fantastic In-Competition". It had its world premiere in Sitges/Spain on October 10th, 2020. Besides SITGES, "RED LIGHT" has had many other official selections within the most iconic horror film festivals such as: BIFFF- Brussels International Fantastic Film Festival, Telluride Horror Show, Strasbourg European Fantastic Film Festival, Morbido Film Festival, New York City Horror Film Festival and many more. "RED LIGHT" got positive reviews from critics, journalists and horror fans. The feature film adaptation is currently in development. On August 17th, 2020 he wrote and directed the proof of concept - short film drama "165 days In Quarantine" starring Alberto Trujillo (Halley - Sundance Official Selection), María Evoli (Ariel award winner) and Eligio Meléndez (Ariel award winner). The short film will start its festival run in 2021, the feature film adaptation is currently in development.
