An impassioned film maker with a hunger to become a true professional, Josh is tailoring my future to become a true expert. Whilst at school, Josh became interested in filmmaking and went on to take a BTEC National Diploma in Film and Television production at Coventry Blue Coat Church of England School and 6th form college, here Josh learned how to use a camera more professionally and in a variety of different contexts, including live productions, music videos and experimental film. Josh graduated this course with a Distinction grade which allowed me to continue my passion for film making. In 2013 Josh finished studying for a BA (hons) in Film and Television production at Buckinghamshire New University and achieved a Second Class Honours Degree. It is here that Josh built on the skills Josh learnt during by BTEC Diploma and was introduced to the key concepts of film and television production in a professional context, including writing proposals and treatments for commission, and pitching ideas to industry professionals. Josh also had the opportunity to develop my skills and techniques with industry standard equipment, including high quality camera and lighting equipment and professional editing suites. During my second year, my main focus was in music video and experimental film production which allowed me to expand my knowledge outside the usual realms of television production. It was here that Josh made my first independently produced experimental film titled 'Somn' and produced a music video for the Birmingham based rock band 'The Fall, The Rise'. In my final year at 'Bucks' Josh worked on a variety of different productions, including a live music show which featured Brighton based band 'The Crave' and was presented by Nigel Clarke. Josh also wrote and directed my own self-funded 10 minute Dissertation film, produced over the course of several weeks and multiple different locations, this production taught me what it takes to produce a film, and the importance of collaborating with others effectively in order to create an exceptional film. My first experience of a professional film set came in the summer of 2011, with the Birmingham produced independent film 'The Bricklayer' directed by Gary Davis, Josh was on location as 2nd Camera Assistant, which placed me under the direction of the Director of Photography Billy J. Jackson, and Camera Operator Nick Gillespie. This experience taught me how a film production operates, from organising set and costume design to getting hands on experience behind the camera.
