Taylor Olson is a Canadian Screen Award nominated filmmaker & seven time ACTRA Award nominee based in Kjipuktuk/ Halifax, N.S. A graduate of the Dalhousie Acting Program, Olson wears multiple hats in film, television and theatre. Olson has acted in numerous feature films such as his own feature film directorial debut Bone Cage - for which he won Best Actor at Kansas City FilmFest & Hamilton Film Festival, Black Cop, Dawn Her Dad & the Tractor, Entropic, Spinster, Halloween Party, and Hopeless Romantic, for which he won the David Renton Award for Outstanding Performance by an Actor at FIN: Atlantic International Film Festival. He has also appeared in re-occurring roles on TV series such as Sex & Violence, Diggstown, Pure, This Hour Has 22 Minutes, and as Larry in the new Trailer Park Boy's: Jail series. On stage, Taylor most recently performed Monster by Daniel MacIvor landing him a Robert Merritt Nomination for Outstanding Performance in a Leading Role as well as Best Lead Actor, Best Solo Show, and Outstanding Drama at the 2019 Halifax Fringe Festival. He has directed over seven short films, many of them award-winning, and - alongside partner Koumbie - won Season 10 of CBC's Short Film Faceoff for the coming-of-age drama Hustle & Heart. His first feature film - Bone Cage - has been released to critical acclaim; sweeping the awards at the FIN Atlantic International Film Festival and earning additional accolades at festivals across the globe. It has appeared in competition at Poland's Camerimage, where it was nominated for Best Cinematographer's Debut and is now touring numerous US festivals. Bone Cage was nominated for two Canadian Screen Awards for Adapted Screenplay & Supporting Actress. Taylor is the recipient of the 2020 Arts Nova Scotia Emerging Artist Award.
