Paul Shipper is an Illustrator best known for producing key art and imagery for film, entertainment and advertising. Born in Manchester, UK, he obtained a BA in Illustration and Animation from Manchester Metropolitan University in 1997. Working from his studio in the heart of historic Worcestershire, England, Paul creates art for a multitude of clients including collector's edition Blu-rays (Robocop; the Princess Bride; Escape From New York), official Star Trek style-guide art and comic book covers, magazine covers (Empire, Billboard, Sports Illustrated), advertising campaigns (Xfinity: ET Holiday Reunion, Paris Saint Germain), theatrical productions (Wagner's The Valkyrie), and music albums and Movie soundtracks (MUSE, Karate Kid). In 2019 Paul became the first living artist to be featured in the 'Illustration Magazine' (October 2019 Issue No. 66). His true passion lies in his illustration work for motion picture key art with a love for the one-sheet movie poster. Paul's illustrations have been used for films including Avengers: Infinity War, Star Wars: The Last Jedi, and Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. Paul draws inspiration from the illustrated film posters of the Golden Age by legendary artists such as the Hildebrandt brothers, Drew Struzan, Richard Amsel and Bob Peak. He embraces digital painting with a traditional art background utilizing the latest tools and delivery methods whilst staying true to his traditional style. Paul has recently returned to his traditional painting roots and has attributed his growth in artistic expression with traditional mediums being heightened by his digital painting experience.
