Ian Sumner was born in Oakland in 1994. He grew up in the bay area. In high school he began making short films with friends, teaming up with Chessa Mehlman. They started their own production company and YouTube channel, ApolloMagic, which continues to grow. Ian Sumner attends San Francisco State University where he studies Journalism, though continues to make movies throughout his time in academia.
