Verônica Sarno is a Brazilian actress based in London with Portuguese and Italian heritage. She was born In São Paulo to a father who is a recognised physiotherapist in Brazil and mother who trained as a nurse and decided to put her profession aside to raise Verônica. At a very young age she decided her dream was to become a professional dancer. Since the age of 3 she was pretty insistent with her mom and the dance teacher to start attending the Ballet and Tap-dance classes. Her stubbornness lead her to perform as a dancer in many stages in Brazil and win awards at some important dance festivals in the country. She was pretty convinced that this was the profession she wanted to follow. At the age of 13 Verônica had an important knee injury during her rehearsals that prevented her from performing in her first solo. She had to stop dancing for a while. Devastated about the news Verônica had to find another away to put her creative mind to work. Following her mother's suggestion she joined an acting course which later on lead to the creation of the local theatre company "Folha em Branco" (name suggested by her) that is still active in Brazil today. The group was a light at the end of the tunnel. Her dedication to the theatre group allowed her to play important characters in the productions for 4 years. During one of her performances she was spotted on stage by an established actor who encouraged her to take acting more seriously. She decided to follow his advice. Verônica got in to the prestigious Brazilian drama school "Célia Helena" where she attended both Technical Course and Bachelor's Degree. On the second year of her BA course Verônica was offered a part in the high profile theatre production "Sem Pensar", a Brazilian version of the English play "Spur of the moment" performed at the Royal Court in London. The production starred the famous Brazilian actress Denise Fraga and was directed by the veteran film director Luiz Villaça. Verônica performed in this production for one year on tour and one year at TUCA, one of São Paulo's best known theatres. The show went on to win countless awards. In 2013 Verônica moved to London. She was offered a place in the prestigious Drama Centre London where she was one of two students of her course to gain a Distinction in Acting. She hadn't originally planned to stay in the UK but she fell in love with the professionalism of the industry there. Although Verônica's background was in theatre she became drawn to the world of cinema. Her passion for this new approach of acting lead her to the leads in the short films "Once more with Filling", "Alien Rage", "Tent Pegs" and "Now and Then". In 2017 booked a lead role in the feature film "Haraam" which stars the famous Pakistani actress Ainy Jaffri. The film is due to come out next year and is about the difficulties of love.
