Francesca Lee, née Barnett-Cowan, was born to Dr. Rev. Can. Alyson Barnett-Cowan and Rev. Bruce Barnett-Cowan in northern Manitoba, Canada, but later moved to Toronto, Ontario, where she grew up. Francesca studied Drama at Mount Allison University in New Brunswick, leaving in 2010 to further pursue her acting training. She graduated from Neptune Theatre School's Pre-Professional Training Program in Halifax in 2011 and from The Canadian College of Performing Arts in Victoria, British Columbia in 2015.
