Lindsay Ashcroft was born and raised on the North Side of Chicago. Her parents are Larry and Ingrid Ashcroft, and she has a sister and three brothers. Ashcroft began acting in plays at Maine South High School in Park Ridge, and later burst onto the Chicago black box theater and independent film scenes. She lives in the Norwood Park neighborhood with her husband, their three children, and their two dogs.
