Sav Rodgers is a filmmaker from Kansas City. His work tends to center on the queer experience through a comedic or personal lens. He is the director of Chasing Chasing Amy (2022), a feature documentary about the cultural impact of Chasing Amy (1997) on the greater LGBTQ+ community and the profound, lasting impression on his own life. Sav also delivered a TED Talk on the subject titled, "The rom-com that saved my life." In 2019, he received the Filmmaker of the Year Award at the Austin Revolution Film Festival. In addition to his work as a director/writer, Sav is also the Founder and Executive Director of the Transgender Film Center, a nonprofit aiming to help trans creators bring finished films to audiences around the world. In 2014, Sav founded Professional Amateur Productions as a film student at the University of Kansas. Since its creation, Sav's films have been featured at numerous film festivals worldwide, including Academy Award-qualifying events such as Slamdance and the Cleveland International Film Festival. His short film, Queen for a Day, made its international debut at the American Pavilion Emerging Filmmaker Showcase at the Cannes Film Festival. His upcoming movies include surrealist comedies Pancake Skank, Ethical Dentist, Telethon: The Quest to Save Grease 2's Reputation.
