Tim Porter is a writer, director and editor based in South East London. After graduating with a BA (HONS) in Contemporary Media Practice from the University of Westminster he has slowly been building a strong body of work. His first true independent film 'Joshua' after graduating became somewhat of a cause célèbre due to it's depiction of paedophilia. While it gained a handful of screenings and critical acclaim it has yet to been seen by a wider audience. Tim has also directed a handful of music videos. His videos 'Ships Pass' for 'Paul Cook and The Chronicles' (Jude Street Management) and 'You Echo' by Nate Connelly (Blind Colour) continued to demonstrate his bold, dry and poetic style of filmmaking. After producing the short 'Holding Hands With Strangers' for filmmaker 'Rahma Marzak' he made a transition into theatre production. 'Dream. Cease. Repeat' (Project Phakama UK) co written by Lika Abdalla and Abu Jafor received overwhelmingly positive feedback that currently he is adapting a short film of one of the three stories explored in the play. His work has been described as bleak, shocking but honest. His objective as a practitioner is to shine a light on subject matter that are not widely discussed in public discourse. His attention is to 'free the minds' of his audience. Removing stereotypes or simple Ying and Yang ideologies he challenges notions of perception and identity.
