David Towne was born in Indianapolis, Indiana, to Marci Ann Reddick, an attorney active in local politics, and Civil War historian Stephen Edgar Towne. His ancestry is English, Scots-Irish, and German. David's upbringing was a mix of visual art and athletics before he started acting at Lawrence North High School. Stepping onstage was the result of learning to edit and anchor the daily news, coupled with success as captain of the speech and debate team. David also lettered in tennis, became fluent in German, and learned to sing. He moved to Chicago to study theatre and political science at Loyola University. During undergrad, David acted and wrote for the stage, studied abroad in Rome and at the London Dramatic Academy, and joined the Sigma Chi International Fraternity. After graduating with honors, he remained active in Chicago storefront theatre and studied improvisation at iO Theatre for two years. He is now based in Los Angeles, California. Other schools include: Graham Shiels Studios (LA), ACE Studios (LA), The Art of Acting Studio (LA), Acting Studio Chicago, Vagabond School of the Arts (Chicago), Green Room Studios (Chicago), and the Actor's Training Center (Wilmette, IL). In addition to acting, David writes for film, is a published author, and car enthusiast.
