Was brought up in Gomersal West Yorkshire where he attended the local school and St Mary's church. In addition to his TV work Anthony also worked as an actor in repertory at: The Little Theatre Aberystwyth for Earl Armstrong, Huddersfield Theatre Royal for Nita Valerie, the Princess Theatre Bradford for Harry Hanson, the Civic Theatre Leeds for Charles Denville and the Denville Stock Company, the Hippodrome Theatre Bolton for the Bolton Theatre Company, the Theatre Royal Carlisle for Cranbourne Theatres and the Ashton Pavilion St Annes On Sea. Not listed here are several television programmes he worked in such as ABC TV's What's In Store which was broadcast live from Manchester on a Sunday and hosted by Doris Rogers, he usually played a customer but also, on the odd occasion, played a sales person. There were many other programmes such as The Trial of Oscar Wilde by Granada TV which starred Michael MacLiammoir as Oscar in which he played a junior prosecuting council. In 1961 he left the business and joined Philips Records Ltd where he worked with a great many English and American recording artists in a public relations capacity. He was responsible for the discovery and signing of The Peddlers and Pauline Mathews, perhaps better known as Kiki Dee. In 1966 he left Philips and joined the Thomson Organisation, again in a public relations capacity to launch the Yellow Pages in the UK. In 1971 he left Thomson and formed his own public relations company Impress Public Relations Ltd, one of the first if not the first in Yorkshire.
