Francesca River was born on May 22nd, 1997, in Lisbon, Portugal. She started acting with 15 years old and had her first professional role in a motion picture (O Amor é Lindo... Porque Sim) with 17 years old. During that time, she has also done stage work (Gertrude Stein's Four Saints in Three Acts) performing in San Sebastian, Spain, during the European Capital of Culture Theatre Festival; the play also won the Portuguese Critics' Association Honourable Mention for best play. The following year, with 18 years old, Francesca moved to London to continue her training in acting and singing for six months. When she returned to Lisbon, she continued her acting studies with Lola Cohen, Diana Castle, Tom Todoroff, John Hunter, Ronni Stewart, Tomi Janezic,, John Frey, Slava Kokorin and Zoya Zadonozhnaya; and her singing studies with Natalie Weiss, AMDA's Sissi Martins and Led On's lead singer Paulo Ramos. When she turned 21, she started a rock cover band called River People.
