Chip McClure

Lewis C. "Chip" McClure was born on August 11, 1969 to Harold L. "Mac" McClure and Frankie Doris McClure. He was raised on a small farm on the outskirts of Midland, Texas. Chip McClure was thrust into the national spotlight at age 18 when his then 18 month old daughter, Jessica McClure fell into an abandoned water well in her aunt's backyard. The ensuing rescue took place over three days in October of 1987, Jessica slipped into the exposed 8" well casing on Wednesday October 14th and it was 58 1/2 hours before Paramedic Steve Forbes would return her to the surface. The rescue involved over 400 rescue personnel, with experts, equipment and supplies flown in from across the country. The rescue was covered by the recent upstart 24 hour news network CNN, today Turner credits the "Baby Jessica" story with saving the fledgling news network. The rescue has been the subject of several books and a made for TV movie. The story recently became the post televised news story of all time eclipsing the coverage of Princess Diana's death. He is the CEO of an aircraft acquisition firm and a Professional Speaker, Chip lives in Georgetown, Texas with his wife Amy.
