Kaayla Whachell

Kaayla is a Cinematographer/Director working on the Unceded Musqueam, Squamish and Tsleil-Waututh land (Vancouver, BC). She completed her BFA in Film Production at the University of British Columbia. Kaayla has worked with a diverse group of directors and strives to create a happy and healthy work environment for Black, Idigenous,People of Colour filmmakers. Her cinematography for Hayashi Studios was nominated for a Leo Award 2020 and her directorial work for "Laura" a Telus Storyhive funded project, was accepted into VIFF and won best Female Director at VSFF.
