Emmet Cohen began Suzuki method piano instruction at age three and transitioned from Classical to Jazz after training in classical piano at the Manhattan School of Music's Pre-College Division. He holds a Master's Degree from the Manhattan School of Music and a Bachelor's Degree from the University of Miami's Frost School of Music. Cohen placed first in the American Jazz Pianists competition in 2014 and was a finalist in the American Pianists Association's Cole Porter Fellowship in 2015 and 2011 and the Thelonious Monk International Piano Competition in 2011. He leads the Emmet Cohen Trio and is a Yamaha Artist.
