Victor M. Dueñas is a Mexican-American writer, actor, and director based in LA. Upon graduation from Pomona College, he began pursuing another life-long dream - that of being a stand-up comic. In a short time, he found success performing his off-beat bi-cultural humor at legendary clubs like The Laugh Factory and The Comedy Store. After several years in the comedy circuit, Victor transitioned into the dual professions of a school teacher and a professional clown named Patches. During this same period, he continued honing his own writing by participating in various screenwriting programs. Most notably, Victor was selected by GLAAD for an intensive screenwriting program taught by well-known Hollywood filmmakers and television producers. He eventually left teaching and hung up his big red clown shoes to join the writing team of the Emmy-nominated Hulu original series "East Los High." Two years later, the National Hispanic Media Coalition (NHMC) selected Victor for their TV Writers Program sponsored by ABC and NBC. Victor was then catapulted into the spotlight when Ron Howard and Brian Grazer chose him for their inaugural Imagine Impact program of 26 writers out of 4,200 hopefuls from around the world. Later that same year, he was also named a finalist of the Disney/ABC Writing Program. And in 2019, he co-wrote and directed the short film "Bibi"I starring Academy Award nominee Adriana Barraza. The short has screened at multiple Oscar-qualifying film festivals including the Austin Film Festival, Festival Internacional de Cine en Guadalajara (FICG), and LA Shorts Fest. Most recently, Victor entertained TV audiences as comedy writer and segment producer on the beloved bilingual late-night talk show Noches con Platanito, a show hosted by a clown. Coincidence? He thinks not.
