Alexis Harris is a refreshing Atlanta-based actress with a heart of gold. Her career was officially launched in 2013 when Ellen DeGeneres chose Alexis, out of 20,000 women, to be the new face of "easy, breezy, beautiful" CoverGirl cosmetics. As a result, Alexis served as a brand ambassador and social correspondent on behalf of CoverGirl and The Ellen Show for projects such as: the Academy of Country Music Awards, the BET Awards, and the Black Girls Rock Awards. Alexis continued to simultaneously gain experience on several television and film sets with roles ranging from featured to lead while earning a Master of Arts in Communication from Johns Hopkins University. Ultimately, Alexis proves beauty and brains can and should coexist. One of her favorite experiences in the acting industry was portraying the lead role (Harper) on the scripted series titled "Harper's Radar" (2016). Alexis grew up in a household with her single-mother (Keesha Harris) and three brothers (Kenneth, D'Eligant, and Kevon). As a child, Alexis loved playing dress up, taking pictures, and watching movies. Her mother spent more than 20 years in the United States Army and eventually retired in Killeen, Texas; where Alexis graduated from Robert M. Shoemaker High School. Unconventionally, Alexis received her Associate's degree from Temple College two weeks prior to graduating from high school. She also went on to receive a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology from the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA). Initially wanting to be a model, she competed in many model searches and won several of them as a kid. Her dream was to audition for America's Next Top Model as soon as she turned 18 years old; however, her passion changed from herself to her peers. At 18 years old, Alexis founded a nonprofit organization, The S.M.I.I.L.E. Movement, whose mission is to: ...stimulate the aspirations of today's youth, while improving the quality of life for under-served populations. The acronym stands for "Students Making Impacts In Lives Everywhere" and it's all about being the difference as a young person, giving back to others, and standing up for what's right. Primarily focused on helping others, Alexis was completely surprised when Ellen DeGeneres selected her to be the new face of CoverGirl cosmetics. This rekindled Alexis' passion for the entertainment industry and inspired her to pursue acting. In December 2014, she moved to Atlanta, GA and worked tirelessly to build a strong name as a professional actress. As a God-fearing Christian, Alexis is never ashamed to thank God for all He has allowed her to accomplish and uses her platform to share the good news of Jesus Christ.
