Ryan James Drescher was born on August 15, 1992 in Edmonton Alberta. Always a storyteller, Ryan found his way in to filmmaking while attending the University of Calgary, where he was studying English to hone his writing craft. He began making his own short films, and by graduation Ryan was set on finding his way into the film industry. This led him to attend SAIT, taking their Film and Video Production Program. It was here that he met many future collaborators, some of whom he produced his Telus STORYHIVE funded short film Red Water Valley with. After graduating SAIT, Ryan moved to Vancouver, B.C, where he worked as a Grip to pay the bills while built his portfolio. Through his production company, Dark Sails Films, Ryan worked on weekends and time off to write and film music videos and short films, co-host the film podcast CineMatics, and continue to create and tell his stories.
