Born on 20 July 1991 in Ytre Enebakk, Norway, Hedi Weng is a cross-country skier and fell runner. So far, Weng has won the bronze Olympic medal in the 15 km skiathlon in 2014 in Sochi. Also won 3 medals from World Championships, 5 medals from Junior World Championships, has 3 individual victories and 50 individual podiums. Heidi Weng is one of the fastest rising stars in cross-country skiing. She started to compete at the age of 7. Coached by Egil Kristiansen, Weng made her World Cup debut in 2009 in Beitostølen. Later she won her first gold medal in 2010 with the 4 x 3,3 km relay and the silver in the 10 km pursuit at the Junior World Championships in Hinterzarten. The same year Weng became the Norwegian senior champion in fell running. The next at her second Junior World Championships in Otepää in 2011 she won three medals - a gold in the 10 km pursuit and once more in the 4 x 3,3 km relay; and one bronze in the 5 km freestyle. Since her success at the 2014 Olympics in Sochi, Weng made her 3 World Cup victories in January and March 2016 - in the 10 km mass start, 10 km pursuit and 7.5 km skiathlon. She finished 2nd in the Tour de Ski in January 2016. Heidi Weng is a very active sport person. When she isn't competing, is playing football and handball to keep up a good sports form.
