Ferréol Cannard was born on 28 May 1978, Morez, France. He is a former biathlete. His first year in biathlon was 1997 and the following 1998, Cannard made his World Cup debut. The highlights in his career are as a member of the French relay team. He won one bronze Olympic medal alongside teammates Julien Robert, Vincent Defrasne and Raphael Poirée in 2006 in Turin. As for his individual performance in the other races, he took part in the sprint where finished 31st and in the pursuit managing a 40th position. Cannard participated in the previous Olympics in 2002 in Salt Lake City in only one event - the 20 km Individual. He then placed 77th. Ferréol Cannard competed in World Championships from 2001 until 2008. In 2004 in Oberhof he won his only bronze medal with the relay. His personal best positioning was 15th in the Individual in 2005 in Hochfilzen. On a World Cup level, Cannard has never been on the podium. But he has 8 times finished in the Top 10. He was 6th twice in the sprint in 2003-2004 and pursuit in 2002-2003; twice 7th in the Individual in 2001-2002 and sprint in 2002-2003; 4 times finished 9th in the sprint in 2004-2005 and the Individual, sprint and mass start in 2003-2004. The best overall finish in his career is at number 23 in the 2003-2004 season. At the end of that very season statistics show his excellent shooting percentage success - 85% from the prone position and 86% from the standing position. After the 2006 Olympics, Ferréol Cannard left the biathlon world to join the cross-country skiing team.
