Robbie Ryde is an actor, educator and filmmaker. Born in Melbourne Victoria Robbie was formerly a semi professional footballer (Australian Rules Football 'AFL') and a contract carpenter. In his 'second act' he has shifted his entire focus to follow his intoxicating passion of the arts. He is the owner of the production company 'RYDEentertainment' as well as a Creative Director with 'AAFTA' where he and partner; actress, producer & writer 'Jessica Orcsik' inspire their students to have the freedom & courage to explore their own authenticity. They are big advocates in giving new talent opportunity by sponsoring the 'Focus On Ability Film Festival' for the past 4 years, running the annual 'Carmen Duncan Scholarship' as well as offering part and full scholarships to their 'Empowering The Artist Online Mentorship' programs. As an actor Robbie trained with TAFTA 'The Australian Film & Television Academy', then furthered his study in Los Angles with AAFTA 'American Arts Film Television Academy' as well as with the iconic improv school UCB 'Upright Citizen Brigade'. He continues to develop his craft under incredible coaches including US Writer/ Director David Matalon, Matthew Barry (CSA) & Emma Flemming to name a few. Robbie is known for his work in award-winning films 'A Death Perspective' and 'Actrix Stone'. His most notable TV credits include appearances on long-running TV series 'Neighbours' uncharacteristically playing the antagonising roles of homophobic 'Jeremy Newell' and the subtly sexist 'Tony' in the 4 part commercial series of 'Our Watch' which was voted best interactive commercial by 'Best Ads on TV'. His films have won multiple awards around the world in all different genres, including most recently where his comedy 'Banana Split' won 'Best Comedy Short' and 'Best Acting Duo' at the Independent Shorts Awards.
